Comes Back Every Year
Hi, I'm Lady Fern! I am a classic and timeless addition to any garden or landscape, and I'm best known for my arching green foliage that adds a fine texture to garden beds. I am also known for being very thirsty - I grow best in moist to wet soil - I will even tolerate some standing water! I am very low maintenance when it comes to upkeep and pruning, but I can be fussy about soil and prefer rich, acidic soils. Since I am common in a forest or woodland setting, I will feel happiest and most at in a shady and moist area of your garden.

- Lacy Foliage: Lady Fern is a beautiful plant that features delicate, lacy fronds that can add texture and interest to any garden or landscape. Its foliage is a bright green colour that can provide a pop of colour to shady areas.
- Shade Tolerance: Lady Fern is a shade-loving plant that can thrive in areas with little to no direct sunlight. This makes it an excellent option for adding greenery to shady areas of your garden or landscape.
- Low Maintenance: Lady Fern is a relatively low maintenance plant that requires minimal pruning and watering once established. It is also relatively pest and disease-resistant, making it an easy-to-care-for option for gardeners who want a plant with attractive foliage that can thrive in a variety of environments.
- Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist, but not waterlogged. Water when the top inch of soil is dry to the touch.
- Maintenance: Ensure well-draining soil with plenty of organic matter. Mulch around the plant to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Watch out for pests like slugs and snails.
- Pruning: Cut back all fronds to within a few inches of the ground before the first hard frost in the fall.
- (Optional): Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring before new growth appears. Alternatively, top-dress with compost or well-rotted manure in the spring.
